Hedy Wyland: Performer
_
With a name like
Hedy, I was destined from birth to join the arts. At age 10 I watched "A
Chorus Line" and it changed my life forever. With the help of a glitter
infused top hat and a pair of character shoes, I practiced every day for months
until I could replicate each step to perfection. To take my love for dance to
the next level, I auditioned for the Creative and Performing Arts Middle
School. Without formal dance training and only the memorized dances of a
feature film on my resume, the director of the dance department very politely
informed us that I was going to need more experience before I could join the
program. My mother told me to go wait in the hall, and after twenty minutes
came out to tell me that I started class on Monday. From that first day of
school I knew that dancing was the only thing I would ever want to do. I went
on to the Creative and Performing Arts High School and graduated from the
University of the Arts with a BFA in Modern Dance Performance. Dancing is my
life and there is nothing I would rather be doing.
